High-Quality Rug Poles for The Carpet Industry
Fork Mounted Rug Poles
The alternative to the Carriage Mounted Rug Pole is the Fork Mounted Rug Pole.
The Fork Mounted unit offers the ultimate in convenience as mounting is as simple as driving the forks into the unit. R & R offers two types of Fork Mounted Rug Poles. Both types have advantages and disadvantages.
The Fork Mounted models offer the same pole as is used in our Carriage models.
Our most popular Fork Mounted Unit is the End of Forks model. This unit comes with 5.5 ID or 7.5" ID Fork Pockets. The Fork Pockets have .25" wall thickness and are 42" long. They are spaced 24" outside to outside of each pocket. The Back Plate is 1.25" thick x 12" tall x 24" wide and is double braced for safety and durability. This unit comes equipped with a safety chain to secure the unit to the carriage.
Carriage Mounted Backer Plates
Our Backer Plates, both "Carriage Mount" and "Fork Mounted," all offer the same unique "squeeze block design." The pole is not welded in place, but rather held in a squeeze block with three Grade 8 Bolts. This allows the pole to be turned or removed by lossening the three bolts.
Each Backer Plate has both a heavy duty top and bottom brackets.
The "Pole Block" is reinforeced with three Support Gussetts. The unit comes standard with a flat plate for core protection, and a safety locking pin to secure the unit on the carriage.
A built-in tilt may also be added to your pole, if you so desire.
When ordering for a carriage with a Center Notch, you will need to order an "Off-Set Bottom Bracket." When ordering for an off-Set Notch, order a "Center Bottom Bracket." This allows the Bottom Bracket to clear the notch so the Rug Pole can be places in the center of the carriage.
We manufacture Backer Plates to fit every type of carriage. Of course, the most common type of carriage is the ITA type. When ordering an attachment for the ITA type carriage, a measurement is required from the top of the Top Carriage Bar to the bottom of the Bottom Carriage Bar.
An exact measurement is crucial being that the Backer Plate must fit over the top and bottom bars.
The Disconnect Notch is located in the Bottom Carriage Bar. This notch is usually 5-6" wide. Depending on the type of carriage, this notch will either be found in the center, or it will be offset to one side. This notch enables you to remove attachments from the carriage without having to slide them all the way to the side.
The use of Double Bottom Brackets or One Solid Bottom Bracket on your rug pole, undoubtedly makes a safer and more durable unit. This choice however, requires that the unit be mounted and dismounted from the side. For frequent removal, this choice is not practical.
The alternate choice is one 3" Bottom Bracket. This will allow the unit to be removed using the disconnect notch.
Backer Plates Guarantee & Warranty
We guarantee our backer Plates against any defects in material or workmanship for one full year from date to purchase.
Pin Type Carriages
The "Pin-Type Carriage" is a less common type of carriage. All your attachments hang from a round rod or pin. It will be necessary to learn the pin's size or measurement.
We will also need to ask questions surrounding different aspects of the carriage such as bracing and clearances of of your carriage.
When ordering for a Class IV carriage, we will also need to know the thickness of your carriage and whether it is tapered or square.
Also check the bottom carriage bar to determine if it is square or tapered.

Explanation of Technical Data
R&R Rug Pole Stand
The Rug Pole Stand offers a safe way to store your pole when not in use. The stand is designed to securely hold the Rug Pole in place. When properly stored, the pole can not be moved or tipped over. With use of the "Quick Disconnect Bottom Bracket", the pole can be lowered directly on to the stand and safely removed from the carriage. The Rug Pole Stand also has holes which allow it to be anchored to the floor.
Quick Disconnect Bottom Bracket
The applications which require frequent removal of your Rug Pole, we offer our Quick Release Bottom Bracket. On a typical rug Pole, the Bottom Bracket is welded in place. Some sliding and lifting is required for mounting and removing. The Quick Release Bottom Bracket eliminates this obstacle.
The Bottom Bracket is held on with a rod. Once in place, it securely holds the Bracket to the Backer Plate. The Bracket can be removed by simply pulling the rod out through the welded hangers. With the Bracket off, the Carriage can be lowered down and away from the Rug Pole Unit. The Bracket can then be put back on the Rug Pole Unit for storage.
Remove the cotter pin from end of shaft
Pull Rod out from Brackets. Note: Once the rod is removed, the bracket will be free to fall.
